I forgot to tell you of my revelation yesterday. As usual I started fussing with details, so I moved my reference photo to the wall of my studio, about 3 feet away, instead of having it adjacent to my canvas. Well, you can't dot the 'i's and cross the 't's if you can't see the 'i's and the 't's!

I like that solution to stopping the fussing with details! I am going to try it! Sometimes I realy sooo heavily on that source photo. Thanks!
I did that with Jon's photo and I also turned it upside down and worked on my painting upside down!
It improved things and I could see my mistakes clearly!
What a good idea! Am going to give it a go as well. Thanks for passing that on.
Yup, the upside-down approach has worked for me in the past.
Sometimes a solution is so easy, you wonder why it took so long! Thanks for your comments, my friends.
