Stuffing! 16" x 12" Oil

Bet you thought I had forgotten....but here is, still life no 4! Do you see the chicken?

"Stuffing"  16" x 12"  Oil

This isn't done. I have plans to introduce a chicken or goose to watch the proceedings, along the same lines as my previous painting 'Apple Sauce' which you can remind yourself of here at the bottom of the page.

The brief today was 'still life'.
I thought it would be interesting to share the work of my fellow WA-ers. More takers this week, which I'm very pleased about. I'll get them all blogging themselves soon!

Jacqui raided the pool table. I love her weird and wacky view of the world and she loves colour.

Penny brought along this set up, done by Christine and, below, Veronica. Both traditional, but very prettily done.

Doris brought simple fruit, love that banana.
This reminds me of Gaugin, I think because of the colours!

Iris had a classic arrangement. I am in awe of anyone who can make sense of those pineapple leaves...and the skin.

As did June. Even half done those fruit are absolutely luscious!

All of these works are in progress, and I find it fascinating that we are all so different.

Out To Lunch Progress

I have been fiddling with this today. I don't like the change of colour to the back wall so I will be painting that again. Apart from that I'd say it ws nearly done.

Building 10" x 12" Oil

I have been working on the large 'Swing' pictures this week, but today I wanted to slap some paint about where it didn't matter. So I found an image that made me smile and I did just that!

Balloons

I went to the hospital today, to see my painting hung in situ and to be photographed for the hospital newsletter. I met the very helpful and enthusiastic Communications Manager, Richard Humphries, who takes a mean photo. He will also be contacting the local press, to drum up interest, which I will keep you posted about.
The painting is at the entrance to the Central Delivery Suite and very welcoming it is, too, even if I do say so myself.

Pat

Finished this commission today, of the lovely Pat, a fellow member of the WA and another satisfied customer. She wanted the portrait for a gift for her husband....so shshshsh..not a word!

WA

The brief was to paint a building in ink + wash. This is Sheringham Station, the end of The Poppy Line, painted from a photo taken last summer. I had a vision of a colourful, loose watercolour! Shows how out of practice I am.
No-one this week wanted to publish their work and I have to say that I am disappointed! Jacqui did make a scrummy lemon cake though!

WA

The brief was 'figures in a landscape', and as I do that anyway I decided to paint horses! Even though I cheated, because I have no ink in my printer, and copied this from a book, I think I shall stay with people! The original painting is by fellow Hertford Art Society member and brilliant pleine air artist Trevor Chamberlain, whose work and more info can be found here and here. Trying to copy one of Trevors'works makes me appreciate just how brilliant he is.

I asked if anyone would like to show their work on my blog and the only person brave enough was Penny, who is working on her version of the 'Monarch of the Glen'.
Looking good...I love his face!

So, meet the Wednesday Afternooners.
None were averse to a photo of themselves appearing on the blog, though, and as you can see, they are right posers, every one!
l to r  Jacqui, June, Sue, Pat, Penny, Mary, Judith, Christine and Veronica.
I would have to go far to find  happier company to paint with.

Oldies

Repose  10" x 12"  Acrylic

Enough!  20" x 30"  Mixed Media

I have been painting a commissioned portrait today, that I don't have permission to post, so I've dug out a couple of oldies for you. As I recall, they were both done from reference photos taken of the models at Hertford Art Society life drawing days.
Happy painting...have a great weekend!

Swing Jump x 3 More Progress

Lots more still to do. Now I've posted the three together I can see immediately what needs to be done. Do you find that too? It's a very useful tool.

Out To Lunch More Progress

WA today where the topic was make Valentine cards, but only two people did that. Not a popular item. obviously. I took this to carry on with and it's coming on very nicely. I like it. I do think painting in company focuses the mind and spurs you on. Thank you WA!
