WA - City Street

The brief was to continue from last week, so I did. I didn't like this but, with more work I have changed my mind. There is a sombre air about it that suggests it doesn't like what it has seen!

 

I offered to post others' work and had three takers............

 

Judith.....it will be delightful when finished, as usual!

 

Veronica.......I love the full frontal viewpoint, it grabs your attention.

WA - Burlesque

WA - Vettriano or Monet

 

The brief was to paint in the style of ....and as Vettriano is quite similar (?) to stuff I do anyway, I went with waterlilies, although that is my only nod to Monet, except perhaps the colours. I enjoyed slapping the paint about...not so thrilled at the outcome!

WA - Marbles 8" x 7" Watercolour

 

It was so good to get back to West Winch Art Group after the summer break, I've missed the girls and guy.

The brief today was to paint several of one thing, ie shells, pebbles, nuts + bolts. The only thing I have a lot of is marbles, good subject.....but why I elected to take watercolours is a mystery! Next week it's boats/cars/tractors, etc. Ah, that's better, well, boats anyway.

WA 'Abstract'

The topic for today was 'paint or draw and animal'.

Skyline  14" x 18"  Oil

I have long wanted to paint these bulls, who live in a field near me. I am drawn to their silhouettes as they meander along the ridge of the hill, but have yet to get the perfect shot.

Not many folk wanted to show off their work today but Jacqui was quite rightly very proud of her giraffe. He is so cute!

June has portrayed this little dog so sensitively with pastels. Brilliant colour choices, including the paper, which sets off the drawing to perfection. That look in his eye is so emotive. 

I admire Davids use of watercolour in painting this crab. No washes for him, just pure colour, which is how I have been trying to pluck up courage to use it, so it was very interesting to watch.

I didn't want to fiddle with mine, so I did this poppy too.

Who would have thought such a simple idea would result in so many different and amazing paintings? No way would I be able to pick a favourite.

Me? I did this. Not evergreen leaves? I know, but I am meeting up with my lovely sis-in-law on Sunday and wanted to paint for her. Needs some tiddling up, methinks!

"Stuffing"  16" x 12"  Oil

This isn't done. I have plans to introduce a chicken or goose to watch the proceedings, along the same lines as my previous painting 'Apple Sauce' which you can remind yourself of here at the bottom of the page.

The brief today was 'still life'.

I thought it would be interesting to share the work of my fellow WA-ers. More takers this week, which I'm very pleased about. I'll get them all blogging themselves soon!

Jacqui raided the pool table. I love her weird and wacky view of the world and she loves colour.

Penny brought along this set up, done by Christine and, below, Veronica. Both traditional, but very prettily done.

Doris brought simple fruit, love that banana.
 This reminds me of Gaugin, I think because of the colours!

Iris had a classic arrangement. I am in awe of anyone who can make sense of those pineapple leaves...and the skin.

As did June. Even half done those fruit are absolutely luscious!

All of these works are in progress, and I find it fascinating that we are all so different.
