I have done a wee bit more work on this, but I have got to the stage, as I always do, where I think 'that will do'. I quite like it, but it seems a bit bland. So I shall put it away for a couple of days and then look at it again with fresh eyes.
I don't know if I shall paint today. We have just sold our house AND had our offer accepted on the house we want! I am all of a doodah, so excited!

Hey Sharon - congrats on the house! That is exciting. I don't envy you the actual moving part though.
I've been so busy at work I haven't had a chance to catch up on what you have been doing. This is great. I'm so glad you did a WIP. You really make it look so easy.
I guess you paint with fairly thin layers all the way through - right? Do you use a drying medium at all? What kind of brushes do you use?
I find myself trying to easedrop on the guy's conversation - good job!
Hey, Karen, thankyou. To answer your questions, I do build up a painting with thin layers, I am so stingy with the paint, mostly I don't have enough on the brush and I never mix enough colour. I'm trying to get out of that habit, but I think it is lack of confidence. The only medium I use is walnut oil, as recommended by David Darrow, turps gives me a headache that lasts for days! As for brushes, I'm stingy with them too! At the moment My favourites are very cheap, the kind you can buy six different sizes for 1.50 pounds, small soft natural hair flats. I don't look after brushes and ruin them at an alarming rate, so I am reluctant to spend a lot of money on them.

Thank you Carol, it means a lot. A while back, I had a 'thing' about hands and all my paintings had them. Guess the practice paid off!
