Nude Too 12" x 14" Oil

I retrieved another life study from the rejects pile and played. I'm still on the limited palette, which is favourite, but I did cheat a bit and use two reds, transparent oxide and cadmium.

Nude 12" x 14" Oil WIP

Inspired by Terry Miura on his blog Studio Notes, I continued a life study I started in Hertford. Still too tight, and did she really have such a big head?! Or maybe her neck is way too thick?  I think I may be getting the hang of this!

For comparison!

Morning 12" x 14" Oil

Just noticed the ear......slap bang dead centre! No, I didn't do it on purpose!

Panic!

Cromer  16" x 16" Oil

Posed  16" x 20"  Oil

I've been fiddling with these paintings this week. I have given all the paintings that were earmarked to go in the Hertford Art Society Annual Exhibition to the Out of the Box Independent Curators to show at the Rampant Horse in Gayton. Consequently I am in a panic as the deadline approaches! And neither of these will do, I fear.

WA - Pen + Wash

I thoroughly enjoyed this afternoon. I discovered pen + wash to be a very good medium for nudes and hardly believe I haven't tried it before. I really like it, and wish I had more control! But that is easily learned with practise.

Nude Too 8" x 10" Oil

Nice model, from one of the Hertford sessions. It would be nice if she would sunbathe nude too!

Nude 8" x 10" Oil

I have been fiddling with several large paintings lately, but today I needed a play.

Finger Painting

PENNY   24" x 19"   Oil

I've been enjoying myself again, by way of getting back into the swing of painting. I love getting my hands dirty (and clothes and furniture), and slipping, sliding, dabbing the paint on a smooth surface is glorious!
I framed this yesterday while it was still wet, forgetting to photograph, and then proceeded to vigorously clean the glass! You can imagine the outcome. And I very nearly re-framed after the clean up without photographing again. Senior moments are becoming an all too frequent occurence.
Looking at this now, I have a mind to darken the background. We'll see. Painted from a photograph taken at one of the HAS life sessions.

Oldies

Repose  10" x 12"  Acrylic

Enough!  20" x 30"  Mixed Media

I have been painting a commissioned portrait today, that I don't have permission to post, so I've dug out a couple of oldies for you. As I recall, they were both done from reference photos taken of the models at Hertford Art Society life drawing days.
Happy painting...have a great weekend!

Feet Oil 61/2" x 7"

Life drawing again on Saturday, at HAS, where I produced this. Had a brilliant day! I think this pose was so enjoyable because it was so complicated. Love those feet!

Lyn is such a good model and very freindly and amenable, and has a lovely smile. Next time we are lucky enough to have her, I might concentrate on a portrait.

If you would like to purchase this painting for 70GBP please email me.

Red Hair Acrylics + Pastel 16" x 20"

My mission today was to clean up the studio and frame a couple of the pictures for the forthcoming exhibition. I am so easily distracted! I found another half completed drawing.

So I got to work on it.

I did actually frame two pictures as well, so I didn't get completely off-track.

Life Study Acrylics 30" x 20"

Found an old photo of one of the Hertford Art Society models today. I knew I had begun a painting already, at an Art Society life drawing session, but had discarded it. Well, waste not, want not, so I dug it out. I was amazed that I had left it unfinished, so I had good fun amending where necessary.

I didn't do any painting yesterday. We are hoping to sell the house and move to the coast. We had some viewings lined up so housework took priority, and then prospective buyers were upon us. I have everything crossed that this time..................!

I hope you have been able to check out the website? If you have you will know what I have been doing in the last two days. Today, I decided to leave the oils alone, as I get a headache in my shut up, very cosy, studio. I enjoyed my outing with charcoal, yesterday, so did the same again today, and found an old life drawing that I could play with. I belong to Hertford Art Society, ( check out http://www.hertfordartsociety.co.uk/) who, brilliantly, organise a life drawing day once a month. June Pickard actually organises it, she's fantastic. We usually have two models, and most will allow photographs, which is really useful for future reference. Such as today.
The image on the top is where I started. Underneath is where it is now. Any comments happily received, perhaps you preferred it to start with? You can't buy the first one, sorry, but the other is available. Email me?
