Reading 24" x 24" Acrylic

I have not finished Brothers Too to my satisfaction yet and I am also working on a couple of other things, that I can't post here.......so.......here is another one I did earlier. A self portrait, working primarily with a palette knife, and a very limited palette of colours. I was very happy with this, and someone liked it enough to give me money! Mixed feelings about that!

Hi Sharon, this is a magnificant painting! It is stunning! Not surprised you sold it. The limited palette works so well. Do some more self portraits, did you have a photo reference or did you use a mirror? It is easy now with a digital camera - you can hold it at arms-length and get some really strange close-up shots of yourself. These could be quite fun to use as a reference!

Thanks very much, Dianne, yes, that is just what I did, took a photo at arms length. Digital cameras have certainly made it easier to use yourself as model,I do it a lot.

This is great Sharon. I really do think you're tops at portraits and I love your work. I've never done a self portrait - maybe should try one day! Well done on the sale.

Thank you, Liz. I think SPs are very good practice, the model is free and readily available! I try different techniques and mediums witout having to worry about the subject. Give it a go, I would be so interested in seeing that.

I really like this on Sharon! It is soo intimate, I feel like I know that person. I also like the limited palette. Great result!
