Remembrance Day

I know I painted this in the summer, but I thought it appropriate for today. It is for my Granddad, who died, fighting to preserve the freedom for me to be able to paint this, though during the second world war, not the first.
Rest in peace, Hugh Felce.
I have been thinking of the unimaginable horrors he must have endured and the worst thing is that it still goes on. So this is for every serviceman, too, in heartfelt gratitude and admiration. And for every woman who has lost a grandfather, father, son, nephew, cousin or uncle.

I love this Sharon. I'm glad you re-posted.

Very nice tribute. I'll add my thanks for those who have and are serving to keep us free.

A great painting remembering a very sad time for our parents and grandparents. What a lovely tribute to them.

Hi Sharon, this is a really beautiful painting! My son is in the British army and is in Afghanistan at the moment. He is a captain in logistics and therefore not on the front line. This is a lovely tribute for your Grandfather, Hugh.
