Brothers Too 20" x 16" Oil WIP

I decided to show you this because I started differently to usual. I have been following Susan Carlin and David Darrow ( and learning a lot) and drawing the composition first, as they do. But I watched Rolf Harris paint the Queen again and he paints the whole canvas, blocking in big shapes and then makes finer and finer adjustments. So that is how I have started this.

Thanks for sharing your process with us, it will be interesting to see how the painting progresses.

Sharon - I thought i had already visited your blog and commented but today taking a second peep I am so surprised to find all these magnificent family portraits and Christmas Greetings cards. No wonder 'you love painting' - you are so good at it!!!! But I am confused as I thought I saw completely different subject matter last time.
Have you and Anita got together yet??
By the way I tracked down Intuitive Painter Diane McNaughton from your blog and think she is great and lives up to her blog name. I visited her country last year for 5 weeks sketching as I travelled.
