Penny

The brief at the WA was to paint a clock, paying particular attention to depicting the space between glass and dial. Good subject for watercolour and ink, which is what I took. Penny, however, asked me to take on another commission and presented me with a photo of her glamorous self. Brilliant....I get out of the clock thing by doing a preliminary sketch of Penny. All well and good.....but....watercolour! Bear in mind I have not touched watercolours for YEARS! But I had a go, actually inspired by Sadami, who is the reason I had dug them out of a box in the shed. Check her out, she is cool.

Very nice, Sharon. I love Sadami's work, too. Sounds like you had a great time.

Can't think of anything I would hate to draw more than a clock, Ugh.. Penny is much more interesting to draw and watercolours! I have always wanted to try but never seriously. I will check your link out. Smiling portrait must be very difficult but you have nailed it again.

I fear watercolors but yours has a spark to it.

Your colours are clean and fresh and what a beautiful expression on Penny's face. When it comes to portraits, I don't think you should fear any medium Sharon!

No the easiest of tasks, a portrait in watercolours, especially if you have not touched them in ages, but I see why you might have preferred it to the clock!

Whether it is a good likeness, I can't be knowing, but it feels as though it is. It has everything else you might reasonably require of a portrait. Excellent.
