Two afternoons' work, first the drawing and then an underpainting. I am hoping for a realistic rendering but not OTT photorealism. This is a big one for me so it might take awhile!

I have been working on this, just the neck needs sorting. I think I prefer this to the one with the brush, but let's have another vote shall we? I don't think this was included before.

This is to be a gift for a friend, who is to visit during the holiday. I hope he will forgive the theft of the photo from his facebook page!

 

 

Work in Progress Esmeralda 12" x 12" Oil

 

I thought I would try a different approach, with a monochrome underpainting, to which I have added some local colour. So far, so good........now comes the difficult bit!

This is from a photograph belonging to Judith, a fellow WA artist, which I begged to be allowed to paint as soon as I saw it. Well who could resist such a cheeky stare? Thank you Judith.

I was totally taken aback by how many people drew their own hands for this, something which didn't even occur to me!
