'Young Roy' after John Singer Sargent 'Lord Dalhousie'

I have been working on my Sargent copy this week, purely for my own pleasure. A bit naughty really when I have promised commissions unfinished. Slow progress and lots more to do.

Is anyone else having trouble adjusting to the new time? I cannot get going!

The brief today was to paint a copy of a masterpiece, or paint in the style of your favourite artist.

Remember this? A copy of Lady Agnew of Lochnaw by John Singer Sargent, but with my younger face. I didn't like the head, as I felt it too small, so.........

 

I changed it. Needs more work, but I am happier with the proportions.

I also made a start on a companion piece, featuring a young Roy, which is also a copy of a Sargent, Lord Dalhousie.
