Boats 10" x 12" Watercolour

I thought I would practise with watercolour, because it makes sense to take watercolours to paint en plein air, rather than oils. Lighter, less fuss. My watercolours, however are 20+ years old and the tin is rusty! You cannot work well with crap tools!
This wishy washy excuse for a painting is all I did. I gave up, and got out the charcoal........................................................

  1. Don't give up on oils, you have a light touch and good tones. Just need lots of practice. Keep going. I love the way you have used the colours in the water.

  2. I agree that watercolor is easier for plein air excursions. The medium also allows for more sketches produced on the spot. Those and a camera are handy if you want to carry on and blow one of them up for a larger painting.
I really like your charcoals of that gal eating. Great action.
