I thought I would practise with watercolour, because it makes sense to take watercolours to paint en plein air, rather than oils. Lighter, less fuss. My watercolours, however are 20+ years old and the tin is rusty! You cannot work well with crap tools!
This wishy washy excuse for a painting is all I did. I gave up, and got out the charcoal........................................................

Don't give up on oils, you have a light touch and good tones. Just need lots of practice. Keep going. I love the way you have used the colours in the water.
ReplyDeleteI agree that watercolor is easier for plein air excursions. The medium also allows for more sketches produced on the spot. Those and a camera are handy if you want to carry on and blow one of them up for a larger painting.
ReplyDeleteI really like your charcoals of that gal eating. Great action.
